New SCO UnixWare Allows Customers to Immediately Take Advantage
of the Internet Way of Computing
SANTA CRUZ, CA (April 7, 1997) - Continuing to evolve its product offerings
for the Internet Way of Computing, SCO (NASDAQ:SCOC) today announced the
immediate availability of SCO UnixWare Release 2.1.2, the newest release of
the performance-leading, enterprise-class operating system for Intel
platforms, optimized for Internet computing. Featured in this new release
are a fully integrated Web server and authoring tools from Netscape
Communications Corporation, as well as network connectivity technologies,
and backup and restore services.
SCO UnixWare 2.1.2 delivers on SCO's commitment to the Internet Way of
Computing with enhanced Internet components designed to allow medium to
large businesses to easily take advantage of the Internet and corporate
intranet environments. Standard components now fully integrated with the SCO
UnixWare server platform are moving forward are:
- Netscape FastTrack Server 2.0 Software - Netscape's award-winning Web
server with SSL 3.0 security standard, ideal for creating and managing
Internet/intranet sites;
- Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0 - client software with integrated Web
navigation, email, support for video and audio, and Web document creation;
- SCO PPP from Morning Star - provides enhanced point-to-point protocol
(PPP) and Internet security protection for businesses using the Internet.

In a related announcement today, SCO announced plans to release
high-availability clustering products for the SCO UnixWare platform this

Servers, Commerce Servers, and Departmental Application and Database Servers.
SCO UnixWare customers can also easily add extensions to their
Internet/intranet environment with other recently announced components from
the SCO Internet Family. Products also available include the Netscape
Enterprise Server 2.0, Netscape Proxy Server 2.5, Netscape LiveWire, and the
SCO Internet to NetWare Gateway for easily connecting systems on NetWare
LANs to the Internet.

DESCRIPTION: The SCO UnixWare 2.1 Application Server is a multi-user
server configuration of UNIX System V Release 4.2MP. It includes
support for 5 users, and will accept additional licenses of 10-, 25-,
100-, 500- and unlimited-users. The SCO UnixWare 2.1 Application
Server can be effectively used as a database server, an Internet
server, a factory automation server, a transaction processing
engine, a multi-user development host, or an application server for
departmental or office computing.
Now Internet Optimized, the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Application Server also
serves as a fully functional Internet server right out of the box.
Netscape FastTrack Server 2.0 provides an easy to install and manage
Web server, and Netscape Navigator Gold 3.0 provides complete Web
browsing and Web authoring capabilities. SCO PPP from Morning Start
provides an efficient and secure protocol base for these services.
SCO Internet Manager provides an integrated Web-based management
interface which provides integrated management of all of these

SCO ARCserve/Open Lite, developed by Cheyenne Software, the industry

to-use, high performance, comprehensive tool provides backup and
restore data management your SCO UnixWare 2.1 Application Server. It
provides the robust feature set that administrators require with
the simplicity necessary for end-users to do backups. The SCO
UnixWare 2.1 Processor Upgrade incrementally licenses additional
processors beyond the two processors supported in the standard
product. Other SCO UnixWare products supported on the Application
Server include the SCO UnixWare 2.1 Software Development Kit, SCO
