LiS-2.10 Available David Grothe Sun, 03 Dec 2000 23:46:44 -0800 LiS-2.10 is now available. The documentation has been updated. Gcom has a new web site online today at http://www.gcom.com. You can easily access the LiS documentation from there online, and you can also now search the LiS documentation from Gcom's site. This version of LiS incorporates lots of changes made over the summer (fattach, pipes, fifos) plus multi-CPU SMP compatibility. The updated documentation describes the new features in more detail. NOTE TO STREAMS USERS: You MUST recompile your drivers in the context of the LiS-2.10 header files. However, if you fully utilize the new DKI features of LiS, you may never have to compile your drivers again. LiS now offers considerable insulation between STREAMS drivers and the Linux kernel. Looking ahead, the plan is for LiS-2.11 to be compatible with 2.4 kernels and for LiS-2.12 to incorporate aggressive multi-processing on multi-CPU SMP systems. Thanks to all who have contributed to LiS over the last months. If any of you have problems, let me know. Dave Grothe Web archives for lists can be found at http://gsyc.escet.urjc.es/lists
LiS-2.11 Dave Grothe Sun, 31 Dec 2000 07:38:48 -0800 LiS-2.11 is now available at ftp://ftp.gcom.com/pub/linux/src/LiS. It differs from LiS-2.10 only in that it is compatible with kernel version 2.4.0 (tested on test11). The documentation on Gcom's web site is lagging a bit behind the documentation that is included in the distribution. It will be published next week. However, the only documentation difference is in the kernel compatibility section of the documents. If you are running a 2.4 kernel make sure that your modutils are at least as recent as 2.3.21. Older modutils do not load modules on the correct boundaries. -- Dave Web archives for lists can be found at http://gsyc.escet.urjc.es/lists
