(Wearing my hat as President of Labyrinth Group)
Labyrinth Group has been invited to participate in SIGGRAPH '94, as part
of the SIGKIDS exposition. For those of you who are unaware of SIGKIDS, it
was started by Coco Conn 3 years ago as a way to get exposure for
educational technologies for children; to connect educators with
technologists, and children with technologies. It's pretty cool, and
generally the most interesting single event at SIGGRAPH.
Labyrinth Group, in conjunction with Husky Labs, will be putting together a
VRML demonstration using content from the United States Holocaust Museum in
Washington, D.C. This demonstration will be installed at SIGKIDS, and will
be available for demos on Tuesday, July 26th, Wednesday July 27th, and
Thursday, July 28th, 1994, while the show floor is open.
Because we feel that real-world examples are the most effective way for
anyone to gather an understanding of the requirements and uses for VRML, we
will be covering the design process, up to and including the VRML files (in
Labyrinth VRML 1.3.x, in the absence of another specification) in several
postings which we will be making over the next four weeks.
The first of these postings will cover the basics of virtual worlds design,
and will be made before the end of this week. I know that we at LG will
learn a lot from this process (which is the first commercial VRML work that
any of us have heard of) and we hope to pass along much of the benefit to
you.
Thanks.
