question on .multi (CERN server)

I am trying out the .multi feature in CERN's 3.0
server. I read the docs, and some parts seems to work,
however when it comes to ranking, it does not do the
right thing. Is this pilot error? any advice, clues?

(why is QUALITY 0.0? what happened to the charset string?)
