Is rev(1) any use ?
Here is the man:
REV(1) USER COMMANDS REV(1)

NAME
rev - reverse the order of characters in each line

SYNOPSIS
rev [ filename ] ...

DESCRIPTION
rev copies the named files to the standard output, reversing
the order of characters in every line. If no file is speci-
fied, the standard input is copied.
