xmosaic 2, prerelease 4

With xmosaic 2, prerelease 4, I cannot get the following document:

gopher://pdb.pdb.bnl.gov:70/l9/PDB/Entries/.1le2/1le2.gif

It seems not to recognize that it's an image and displays the following:

GIF87adw

Can anyone tell me why?
