I agree, I feel that the ability to support postscript, eqn, tex, and the
ISO math DTD all at one whack far outweighs building in equation support.

Furthermore, the server could convert from just about anything to postscript
if needed, so that would seem a good format to support for you graphics
based browser writers (ghostscript will even draw in your window for you
if you can figure out how to make it work).
