The ADDRESS tag is used for formatting things in an addres-like
way. people use it for all kinds of stuff email and paper mail
addresses, etc etc. It is a visible thing, not a hidden link.

There are many more uses of the mailto: URL.

Just a thought, couldn't the broswer allow selection of <ADDRESS>...</ADDRESS>
fields and pop up a mail dialog with that data in the To: field? Or something
along those lines?

Maybe I don't fully understand the problem you are trying to solve
(please educate me if that is the case).
